Welton, Ia., May 16--Martin Schmidt died this morning at five o'clock at his home here, after a week's illness with a complication of diseases. Deceased was a prominent farmer and stockman of Welton and is survived by his wife and six children also two brothers, Jens and Carlsen. Mr. Schmidt formerly operated a farm near Andrew in Jackson county but has been a resident of Welton for the past ten years. He was about fifty-seven years of age.

No arrangements have as yet been made for the funeral.
