John Loof of 404 Third street, for over 45 years an employe in the C. Lamb & Sons lumber mills, passed away last night after an illness of a year and a half.

Mr. Loof was born in Kellinghusen, Holstein, Germany, on July 4, 1839, and came to the United States in 1859. Upon coming to Clinton he entered the employ of the Lambs, and worked for three generations of the family of lumber manufacturers.

Surviving the deceased are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Marie Hixby of Clinton, John Loof of Clinton, Mrs. Minnie Jones of Manning, Ia., Mrs. Emma Morse of Los Angeles, Cal., Henry R. Loof of Manning, Iowa.

The wife of the deceased passed away several years ago.

The funeral will be held from the late residence at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon.
