George B. Lea, aged 79, died Friday at 3:40 p.m. at his home, 315 Tenth avenue. Mr. Lea was born in Canaan, Columbus county, N.Y. March 25, 1835. He was married in 1859 to Melissa G. Fuller at Pittsfield, Mass. He enlisted in Co. C Seventh Minnesota Volunteer infantry August 15, 1862, and received his discharge in 1865. Mr. Lea came to Clinton in 1870 and until five years ago was in the employ of the Northwestern.

Mr. Lea was a member of the General N. B. Baker post, No. 88 G.A.R., of Western Star lodge, No. 11, A.F. & A.M. Keystone chapter R.A.M.; Holy Cross commandery, Knights Templar.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, John W. of Clinton and F. W. of Cedar Rapids. All were at his bedside. Funeral services will be private. They will be held Sunday afternoon and the G.A.R. will have charge. Friends may call to view the remains between 9 and 12 Sunday morning. Friends have been asked to omit flowers.
