Thomas Mellen, aged 52, died suddenly at his home, 509 North Second street at 2:15 p.m. yesterday. Death was due to apoplexy. Mr. Mellen had been a resident of Clinton 35 years.

He is survived by his wife and one son, Robert, two sisters, Mrs. D. D. Mansfield of this city, and Mrs. Alice Oates of Peoria, Ill., also three brothers, George and Jonathon of Clinton, and James of California.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. C. Nye. Funeral will be private.
