Thomas “Tom” Hixson, 92, of Camanche entered the gates of heaven and settled in his loving father’s arms on Friday, July 26, 2019 at his home – Camanche.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 (noon), Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeromy Hixson, Ryan Hixson, Dominik Subcliff, Julian Ladouceur, Darrell Dau, Gilbert Lewis and Butch Graham. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
Thomas Hixson was born November 8, 1926 in Tennessee, the son of Thomas and Suda (Billings) Hixson, Sr. He was an Electrician for the Local 145; retiring in 1988. He married Wendy Point on November 26, 1980 in Water Town, South Dakota.
Tom loved his family whether here or far, and there was never a stranger that he struck up a conversation with that didn’t end with an invitation of “come visit we have plenty of room.” Tom was known for his gardening abilities enough harvested to feed a multitude of families plus some.
Those left to honor his memory are his loving wife Wendy of Camanche; his children: Joyce (Bobby) Reed of Ten Mile, Tennessee, Sissy (Don) Puckett of Kingston, Tennesee, Ronnie (Peggy) Hixson of Ten Mile, Tennessee, Terrie (Vaughn) Walker of Sparta, Tennessee, Michael (Karen) Hixson of Ten Mile, Tennessee and Devan Hixson of Camanche, Iowa; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two sisters: Louise (Glen) Ballew of Rockwood, Tennessee and Bobbie (Billy) Guinn of Kinston, Tennesee.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, two sisters, and four brothers
Memorial may be made to Genesis Hospice.
