After an illness of several months duration E. G. Hecker of this city passed away Wednesday afternoon at 5:15 o'clock at his home, 306 North Tenth street. Edward Gidius Hecker was born Jan. 30, 1849 in Brookfield, Ohio and later moved to Sterling, Ill. in 1854, where he was married April 28, 1881 to Miss Sarah F. Brown of that city. In 1887 they moved to this city where they have made their home since that time.
Mr. Hecker was a plasterer and mason by occupation and was a staunch member of the Lyons Methodist Episcopal church, he also served as Justice of the Peace in this city for a number of years, was an active member of Pioneer camp No. 1 M.W.A. and a charter member and trustee of the Carnagie Library board.
Deceased is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. L. Berder of Cedar Falls, Ia., also two sons, Charles and Arthur, and two daughters, Mrs. Clara M. Harrington of Calamus and Mrs. George Fuess of this city.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home and 2:30 from the Lyons Methodist Episcopal church with Rev. R. C. Keagy in charge of the service. Interment is to be made in Oakland cemetery.
