Peter Reisinger, a veteran of the Civil war, and an old and beloved resident of Camanche, passed away Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock after a ten-days illness. He was 78 years old.
For years he had been a member of the Nathaniel Baker post No. 88, Grand Army of the Republic, of Clinton, though in the Civil war he served with the Thirty-fourth Illinois regiment of infantry.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon in charge of the local post.

Peter Reisinger, a veteran of the Civil war, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Grote, March 5, 1917. He was born June 7, 1838, in Beaver county, Pennsylvania, being 79 years, 9 months and 26 days of age at the time of his death. When four years of age he came with his parents to Clarkson, O. From there they moved to the western part of Ohio in Franklin county. Then they emigrated to Stevenson county, Illinois, and located on a farm. He enlisted in Company H, Thirty-fourth regiment on the 7th of September, 1861 at Camp Butler near Springfield, Ill., and was discharged the 13th day of September, 1864, having served his country three years and six days. In 1867 he moved to Iowa where he has since lived.
He was united in marriage to Miss Harriet Simpson on Nov. 11, 1875 in the town of Innland, Ia. To this union six children were born. Mrs. Reisinger passed away May 21, 1916. Mr. Reisinger leaves to mourn his loss eight children. They are Guy Reisinger of Minnesota; Mrs. Edith Wadorf of Clinton; Ben Reisinger and Mrs. Daisy Grote of Camanche, Ia.; Charlie Reisinger of Fremont, Neb., and Mrs. Ruby Bickford of Monmouth, Ill., and two sons by a former marriage. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and two brothers.
The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Grote on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Mr. Steele officiated. Mrs. M. A. Hogg and Mrs. James Holmes sang. The member of the local post of the G.A.R. attended in a body.
Burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery beside his wife.
