Charles Cawley was born in Moline, Ill. Aug. 12, 1881, and came to this city with his parents at the age of one year. The demise of Charles Cawley, marks the last of the three original mail carriers from the Lyons postoffice as far as service is concerned. The other two men who went into that department when the delivery from the Lyons office was inaugurated a number of years ago, were the first associates of Mr. Cawley in his mail service work, were Kenyon Nattinger and James Sullivan both of whom have since entered other business fields in different cities.
A solemn requiem high mass was said at St. Irenaeus Wednesday morning at the funeral with Father Comerford as celebrant, Father O'Donnell, deacon and Father Murphy, subdeacon.
Mrs. Frank Withart of Savanna sang during the services which were very largely attended. Henry Blesimer, Sr., of DeWitt, Ia., and Will Blesimer of Low Moor, were here to attend the last sad rites.
