12 March 1917 - The Clinton Advertiser page 5

Miss Martha Carlson was born in Sweden Sept. 9th, 1849, and came to this country in 1870 to Clinton, Iowa, where she was married to Hans Oesterborg, Feb. 12, 1872. Here they lived for six years, when they moved to a farm near Low Moor, where they resided for two years. They then moved to a farm north of DeWitt and later purchased the one where they made their home until thirteen years ago last fall, when they retired to DeWitt and have lived here ever since until she passed away March 4th, 1917, at 6 p.m.

Her husband with eight children survive to mourn her loss. They are: Mrs. Will Kuehn, Mrs. Will Smith, Mrs. Henry Gluesing, Charles Oesterborg, Mrs. George Newmarch, Elmer Oesterborg, Mrs. Aaron Cousins, all of whom live in the vicinity of DeWitt and Low Moore, and Mrs. Will Galitz of Fedora, S.D.

She also leaves twenty-one grandchildren and one brother, Peter Carlson, who lives near Low Moor, besides a large circle of neighbors and friends.

She was always a kind and loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all.
