After enjoying one month of retirement to the roll of honor as an engineer on the Northwestern railroad, Roger Henshey, 65 years old, was summoned to the eternal roll of honor.

Death came to the veteran engineer at Mercy hospital Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock after five months' suffering of chirrosis of the liver.

With more than 50 years of faithful service, Roger Henshey was one of the best known engineers on the entire Northwestern system. He began his work as a locomotive fireman October 5, 1886, and two years later was promoted to the service he continued until January 1 of this year, when he was retired on the pension list.

Mr. Henshey was born in County Limerick, Ireland, July 12, 1851. He came to America at the age of four.

Thirty-seven years ago he was married to Miss Mary O'Donnell, a daughter of William O'Donnell, one of the oldest families in the city. His companion preceded him in death four years ago.

Left to mourn the death of the pioneer resident are two half-brothers in Berlin, Mass. John and William Collum, an aunt, Mrs. Katherine Coleman of Clinton and a number of cousins, besides a large ??? friends who will mourn with the family.

Attorney W. J. Keefe, Dr. F. M. Keefe, Mrs. J. C. Langan, Miss May Coleman and Thomas Coleman of Clinton, and Thomas Keefe of Davenport are first cousins of Mr. Henshey.

The body was taken to his home, 308 Tenth avenue. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's church, with interment at St. Mary's church.

Funeral services for the late Roger Henshey will be held at St. Mary's church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock.

John Collum of Boston, Mass., a brother of Mr. Henshey, is expected to arrive here for the funeral.

A requiem high mass was said this morning at 9 o'clock for the late Roger Henshey by Monsignor E. J. McLaughlin of St. Mary's church, assisted by the Rev. Fathers Brady and O'Donnell.

Special music was furnished by Donald Leslie, who sang "A Perfect Day" and "Thy Will Be Done."

Burial was made at St. Mary's cemetery, the following acting as pallbearers: John Pickering, A. J. O'Hara, A. J. Sill, John Cotter, J. P. Calnan, Alex Kraft, Clinton; M. J. Hogan and Owen Doherty, Boone.

Those who attended the funeral from out of the city were: John Collum, Boston, Mass.; M. Gleason, Minneapolis; Neil Gleason, Minneapolis; Mrs. J. Seebrus, St. Joseph, Mo.; John Hanley, Chicago; Miss Reta O'Donnell, Chicago; Will O'Donnell, Gary, Ind.
