Clinton, July 14--Moses Labarge, aged 80, was instantly killed by his son-in-law Ed Widner, who struck Labarge in the head with a flatiron. When Labarge entered the house, his daughter was in a violent quarrel with her husband who threatened to brain her with a flatiron. She frantically appealed to her father for protection. Labarge remonstrated with Widner, who turned on the old man and struck him down, fracturing the skull. Widner ran for a doctor but before he returned the man was dead. Widner was placed under arrest on the charge of manslaughter.
