Lost Nation, Ia. Oct. 18--Maria Louise Schoff Timm was born the 17th day of March, 1838, at Nienhagen, Mecklenburg, Germany. At the age of 20 she came to this country with her parents and first located at Chicago. The year following, 1859, she was united in holy wedlock with John Henry Timm, after which they lived near Toronto. About 45 years ago they took possession of the place now known as the John Timm place. This union was blessed with seven children, four sons and three daughters, of whom two sons and a daughter preceded their mother to eternal rest. Her husband died in 1894. Since that time she has made her home with her several children, most of the time with Francis, Mrs. J. Schaeffer. On account of the absence of Mrs. Schaeffer, she had been staying with her son Albert where she was taken sick last Saturday with a cold which changed to pneumonia. The attending physician expressed the best of hopes for his patient and she appeared to be improving. On last Thursday, October 12th, about 4 in the afternoon, her condition grew worse and by 9 that evening, she closed her eyes peacefully in the last sleep. At the time of her death she was aged 78 years, 6 months and 25 days. She is survived by her brother, Fred Schoff of Lost Nation, two sons, Albert of Lost Nation and Emil of Calamus, two daughters, Mrs. Theo Evers of Baldwin and Mrs. J. Schaefer of Wheatland, besides 19 grandchildren and 76 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Timm was an aged lady of a retiring disposition, one whose chief aim in life was the welfare of those nearest and dearest, and who was most unselfish in planning for them. It is in the immediate home circle that she will be greatly missed and her death will leave a place there which will not be filled. The funeral services were held from the Lutheran church here Sunday afternoon in the presence of many old friends and neighbors. Rev. Vollmer officiated at the service.
