Daniel Buckley, a veteran of the Civil war and a long-time resident of this city, passed away at his home on Fayette street at 7:45 o'clock this morning, after a lingering illness.

The deceased was born in Maine 77 years ago, and lived many years in the east. He was married to Miss Adelaide White in this city about 45 years ago. She died three years later and later Mr. Buckley married Miss Elizabeth Stevens of Lyons, who survives him with the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Henry Krehl of Madison, Wis.; Mrs. Fred Lecke of Chicago, Mrs. Charles Krukow of DeWitt, Mrs. Ben Tolson of Clinton, Mrs. George Carr of Clinton, Edward Buckley of Cedar Rapids, Eugene Buckley of this city, and Misses Florence and Dorothy Buckley, at the family home. There also are nine grandchildren.

Mr. Buckley enlisted at the first call upon the outbreak of the Civil war with Co. R Seventy-fifth Illinois regiment. He was mustered into the service at Dixon, and remained in the army until the close of the war.

The funeral probably will be held Saturday afternoon from the Fayette street home, Rev. F. A. Burrell, rector of St. John's Episcopal church, in charge. Interment will be in Springdale cemetery.
