Mrs. Mary C. Broughton, passed away Tuesday morning about seven o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Hahn near DeWitt. Deceased was aged 69 years and had been in poor health the past fifteen years. Her maiden name was Mary Van Loon and her home before coming to Iowa was in Worthington, Ohio. She was twice married, her first husband being Herbert Hart, who served as major in the army. To this union were born two children, Mrs. M. C. Waggoner and Mrs. Clarence Lowery, living in DeWitt.

She later married William Broughton of Lyons. There was one daughter, Mrs. Leonard Hahn, and one son, George Broughton, the latter of whom is deceased. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Congregational church. The cortege will leave the house at one thirty.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary C. Broughton were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Congregational church conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. K. Chapman. Drs. M. C. and Mel Waggoner, James and John Von Loon, C. E. Lowery and Leonard Hahn were those who acted as pall bearers. Appropriate selections were sung by Mrs. William Gostick, Mrs. E. J. Miller, Dr. R. A. Emmons and G. H. Christensen. Burial was made in Elmwood cemetery.

John Van Loon of Miller, S.D., James Van Loon of Minnesota and Carl Hubbard, of Milwaukee, Wis. are those from a distance who were present at the funeral.
