Dismissed Conductor Was to Have Been Reinstated.
Had Conductor George Goodwin of Clinton, who shot himself after dismissal from the service, in which he had grown gray, withheld his deed a few hours, all would have been well. An official of the company reached Clinton to inform the old conductor that he was to be reinstated. Coming into the city, on a late train, he decided to wait until morning to communicate with Conductor Goodwin. Meanwhile the conductor, crazed by worry because of the company’s action, shot and killed himself.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Springdale Cemetery in Clinton, IA and was born in 1851 and died February 9, 1908.
