Friends here have learned with deep regret the death of Dr. W. R. McGarvey, better remembered as Will McGarvey, which occurred on Sept. 16, 1916, at Vawter Park on Lake Manwasse, Ind.

He was the son of the late Dr. H. J. and Emily M. McGarvey, former residents of this place, and was born here on May 1, 1867. Here he resided until early manhood, and later was married to Miss Minnie Alford, who preceded him in death three years ago.

For a number of years he practiced dentistry at Goshen, Ind., but of recent years has been engaged in the hotel business at the above named place, where his death occurred.

In July of the current year he submitted to an operation from which a good recovery was anticipated, but to no avail, and on Sept. 2, his mother was summoned to his bedside, word having been sent that his recovery was impossible. He lingered until Sept. 16th, when death relieved him, and he was laid to rest in Goshen, Ind., by the side of his wife and twin sons.

He is survived by one son, Karl, his mother, one brother, Sidney of western Iowa, one sister, Mrs. W. W. Kellogg of Preston, Virginia, one niece and one nephew, besides many aunts, uncles and cousins, a large number residing in and about Davenport.
