Chris Nelson Passes Away, Heat it is Believed Hastening His Demise.
Chris Nelson passed away at 6 o'clock this morning at the home of his son, Nels Nelson, 205 South Fourth street. Although Mr. Nelson had been ailing for some months, it is believed the intense heat caused his death.The deceased was born in Denmark 60 years ago and came to this country when 30 years of age. His wife passed away about 17 years ago, and he is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Percy Manville, Nels Nelson, Mrs. Louise Johansen, Chris Nelson, Jr., Mrs. John Miller, Jr. and Mrs. Andrew Carstensen. There are 13 grandchildren surviving, also a brother Hans Nelson of Davenport and two sisters, Mrs. Sorensen of Elvira and Mrs. Mathiesen of Low Moor. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Danish society.
The funeral will be held from the Nelson home at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with interment in Springdale cemetery.

Mr. Nelson was born in Denmark in 1865. He has been a resident of Clinton for thirty years. Surviving him are four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Percy Manville, Mrs. Louis Johansen, Mrs. John Miller, Jr., Nels and Andrew, all of Clinton. Two sisters are Mrs. Nels Mathiesen of Low Moor and Mrs. Nels Sorensen of Elvira.
