Patrick Flanagan was born in Clinton on February 18, 1876, and always made his home here. He was educated in St. Mary's school, and as a boy, served on the altar at St. Mary's. After leaving school he entered the employ of F. Smith & Sons box manufacturers, and for many years was a valued employe of that company, leaving his work only when illness compelled his retirement from active work. He was popular among a wide circle of friends in Clinton, and his untimely death is mourned by all.
Surviving the deceased are his parents, one brother, James Flanagan of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. Jake Horwath of Joliet, Ill.
