Grand Mound, Ia. June 16--John Thede, who had been ailing for the past few days, was stricken with paralysis Wednesday and died Wednesday night. His aged wife and son, Fred of Oelwein, Ia., were at his bedside when he passed away. No funeral arrangements have been made, awaiting news from his daughter in Oklahoma. Obituary later.

Grand Mound, Iowa, June 20--The funeral of the late Mr. John Thede, who died at his home Wednesday night from a paralytic stroke, was held Saturday afternoon at the M.E. church at 2 o'clock. Rev. H. Buell of Calamus conducting the funeral services, after which the remains were interred in Evergreen cemetery. A large number of friends were in attendance to pay their last tribute to a most highly respected citizen. J. W. Kelly had charge of the funeral and the following old friends were bearers of the pall: Henry Moeller, John Frederic, Theo. Brockman, Ludwig Schoenfeldt, John Wendel and Chris Vogt.

Many beautiful floral offerings bespoke the esteem in which the deceased was held.

Mr. Thede was born in Wacken, Holstein, Germany April 7th, 1845, being at his death 71 years, 2 months and 7 days of age. On May 8th, 1882 he came to America and directly to Grand Mound, later moving to a farm where they lived until 1901, when they again returned to Grand Mound, continuing to reside here until the final summons.

For the past ten years he has been sexton of Evergreen cemetery. Besides his sorrowing wife he leaves to mourn 2 children, Fred of Oelwein, Iowa, and Mrs. F. C. Tensfield of Maramec, Oklahoma, both of whom were present at the funeral.

The deceased was an honest, upright citizen and had endeared himself to a large circle of friends, both old and young, who extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.
