page 3Hannah Bailey Burlingame, wife of W. H. Burlingame, passed away on April 15, 1916. She was born in Kentucky and came to Clinton to live in 1862. On April 2, 1873, she was united in marriage with W. H. Burlingame. To this union were born four children. One, a daughter, passed away in infancy; Miss Sue D., at home; Alma Burlingame Potter, who passed away two years ago, and James H., of Louisville, Ky.
Mrs. Burlingame became a Christian in her girlhood and was a true and earnest Christian worker till the last. She was a charter member of Bowman M.E. church. In all her life work her motto was to "Do unto others as ye would that they should do unto you."
The funeral services, which will be conducted by the Rev. R. M. Ackerman, of McCausland, Iowa, will be held at 2:30 on Tuesday at the home, 422 Second avenue. Those wishing to view the remains may do so on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

page 12Mrs. Hannah Bailey Burlingame, after a lingering illness, passed to her eternal reward on April 15, 1916.
The funeral services were conducted at the family residence, 422 Second avenue, on Tuesday, April 18, by Rev. R. M. Ackerman of McCausland, Ia., a former pastor, assisted by Rev. C. L. Nye of the First Methodist church, Clinton. The singing was in charge of Rev. R. M. Ackerman and wife, with Mrs. Bragonier at the piano. The undertaker was Mr. Bragonier of Clinton who very efficiently conducted the funeral, making good use of the great profusion of flowers sent in by numerous friends.
Mrs. Burlingame was the wife of W. H. Burlingame and they have made their home in Clinton most of the time since 1862. They were charter members of the Bowman M.E. church. For more than twenty years the deceased has been unable to walk on account of rheumatism, but her patience and Christian fortitude through these years have been a benediction to her family and friends. Her faith in God's mercies and goodness grew with the years of suffering and at the close of life she was anxious to depart and be with Christ.
Two of their four children preceded her to the better land. The two remaining, Miss Sue D., of Clinton, and James, of Louisville, Ky., together with the companion of her life, can but look forward with fond hope of a glorious reunion bye and bye.
