Thursday evening at her home, 416 Pearl street about 9:30 occurred the death of Mrs. Eliza Cavalier, aged 83. Deceased had not been ill and was enjoying her usual health all day. However about 8:30 she complained of feeling quite faint and without any suffering she passed away at about 9:30, death being due to heart failure and old age.
Mrs. Cavalier had passed her 83d birthday June 7. She was born in New York State and was married to Louis Cavalier in the east coming here shortly thereafter. About six years ago she and her husband celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary, hence they had resided here for over 50 years. Mr. Cavalier preceeded his wife in death June 12, 1913.
For the past three years, Mrs. Cavalier had been living with her daughter, Alice and was always of a cheerful nature with non-complaining ways. Her death occurring as it did, very suddenly, came as a great shock to her many friends as she had done her usual work during the day and visited with her neighbors who had come in.
Besides the one daughter, Alice, of this city, there are two others, Mrs. Charley Murray of Shenandoah, Iowa, Mrs. Mabel Felter of Chicago, Ill. and one son, Burt of Jefferson, Iowa. Funeral arrangements are being withheld pending the arrival of some of the children.
