26 May 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser page 5

H. W. Wilson passed away at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Excelsior Springs. A telegram announcing his death reached John Streib of the Merchants' National Bank late that day, the message conveying the information that the remains are to be brought to Clinton, reaching here at 8 o'clock Saturday morning.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, in charge of the Clinton Turner Society, with which Mr. Wilson was affiliated many years. A committee of Turners will meet the remains at the depot. The remains probably will be taken to Erie, Ill., Mr. Wilson's former home, for interment.

Ward Wilson was well and favorably known in Clinton. He was about 47 years of age and unmarried, living at 500 Eighth avenue.

Mr. Wilson had made his home in Clinton for about twenty years, and was formerly employed by the Lamb Engine company. Before coming to Clinton he had farmed in Illinois, and up to the time of his death was the owner of a fine large farm near Erie. Six weeks ago he went to Excelsior Springs for the benefit of his health, he having been a sufferer from dropsy.

The deceased is survived by two brothers, O. A. Wilson, who is vice president of the First National bank at Erie, and a sister, Mrs. Dunning, who lives in Michigan. His only relative in Clinton is Arthur Wilson of the Merchants National bank force. Art Wilson and his father were in Excelsior Spring at the time of Mr. Wilson's death, and sent messages to Clinton bringing the intelligence here.
