Preston Smithers, aged about 91 years, passed away at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of his son, W. M. Smithers, of Camanche, death having been caused by the infirmities of old age. Mr. Smithers was formerly a resident of Washington, Ia., where he lived for many years, and has resided in Camanche with his son during the past year. It was not decided today whether the remains would be interred at Camanche or taken to the former home at Washington for burial.
