Patrick J. Conley, referred to by his neighbors as a "grand old man", pioneer Clinton resident, and long time employe of the Chicago & North Western Railroad company, is dead at his home, 324 Fourteenth avenue, aged 74 years.

Mr. Conley passed away at 10:15 Tuesday evening, and the funeral is to be held from St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock Friday morning with interment in St. Mary's cemetery.

The deceased was born in County Galway Ireland, and came to America in his young manhood. He came to Clinton 47 years ago and entered the employ of the Northwestern as blacksmith helper, and until seven years ago was constantly employed by the company. At that time he was placed on the Roll of Honor, and retired on a pension, spending his last years quietly at home. Mrs. Conley died 32 years ago, and the deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Frank Parker of Sanborn, Iowa, Mrs. John McLaughlin and Miss Margaret Conley of Clinton, and two sons, John of Minneapolis and Dan of Clinton. There also are thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Conley was for 32 years a member of St. Mary's Total Abstinence Society. He was liked and respected by his neighbors and all who knew him, and his death is sincerely mourned.
