The death of J. E. Curtright occurred at 9:45 o'clock Friday morning at his residence on North Fourth street. The end was expected hourly for some time and the final passing away was peaceful and quiet.
The deceased was a native of Wayne county, Michigan, having been born there Oct. 16, 1837. He removed to Jones county, Iowa, in 1849, and later settled in Onslow and then returned to Clinton. He was a veteran of the civil war, having served with Co. E of the Thirty-first Iowa, and was an Odd Fellow.
Surviving the deceased are his wife, whom he married on January 23, 1861, and seven sons and daughters, as follows: Charles F. Curtright and L. D. Curtright of Tipton; Burt Curtright of Onslow; Joseph Curtright of Cedar Rapids; L. T. Curtright of Evansville, Wis.; Mrs. N. J. Zimmers of this city, and Miss Josie Curtright, residing at home.
The funeral will take place from the residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon attended by the Odd Fellows.
