Joseph Stokes Bennett died at his home 508 North Second street Sunday evening at 7:30 o'clock, after a five days illness. Mr. Bennett was born in new York 45 years ago and came west with his parents and settled in Clinton when he was but five years old. he leaves a wife and four children, the oldest of whom is nine years and three sisters as follows: Mrs. W. D. Walden of Lyons, Mrs. John Alexander of New York and Miss Julia Bennett of Independence. Mr. Bennett, at the time of his death was in the employ of the North Western railroad company.
