The many friends of Mary Shambaugh Baird were made sad by the news of her death at Carthage, Ill., on March 6, after an operation for tumor. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Rice cared for her from infancy until womanhood when in February she and C. Baird were married. She united with the Luthern church here at the age of 14 years and was a devout christian and Sunday school teacher during her stay here. The deepest sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Rice. Service by Rev. Finley and Davidson. Interment took place at Elvira to family lot of J. C. Rice.
