John Landt, a former citizen of Clinton, died Wednesday night, in the insane ward of the county poor farm at Charlotte, where he had been confined for several years. The remains will be brought to Clinton today for interment at Springdale. The deceased was a carpenter by trade and lived in Clinton many years. He was a member of the 26th Iowa volunteers during the civil war and for many years fired the cannon here for various celebrations. Many Clintonites will remember him.

The funeral of John Landt, who died Wednesday evening at Charlotte, was held this afternoon. The remains were interred at Springdale cemetery. Relatives were here from Rock Falls and Rock Island, attending the obsequies.
