The Clinton Herald Monday July 22, 1925 p 8 William F. Nixon passed away Saturday evening at the home of his son, W.S. Nixon, 529 Second avenue, after an illness of four months duration. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Rockwell mortuary. The services will be in charge of Gen. N.B. Baker post of the G.A.R. Interment will be in Springdale cemetery. Mr. Nixon was born in Toledo, Ohio, July 4, 1840. He served in the Union army during the war of the Rebellion and afterwards came to Clinton and had been a resident here for many years. For 30 years he was employed in the big sawmill of W.J. Young & Co. He is survived by three sons, William S. Nixon, Elias Nixon and Eddie Nixon and by 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One grandson, Robert Nixon, is in the U.S. navy, is stationed at Mare Island Navy yard and will be unable to attend services.
