V. M. Hilgendorf

Verena May Hilgendorf, 79, 322 S. Jefferson, died at 2:15 am this morning (Wednesday) in Sturgis Hospital, where she was admitted Sunday. She had been in failing health several months.

She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Feb. 22, 1896, a daughter of Juluis J. and Minnie May (Miller) Schuermann and had lived in Sturgis since 1922.

On Dec. 23, 1915, she married to Fred Henry Hilegndorf in Clinton, Iowa. He died Jan. 16, 1967.

Mrs. Hilgendorf was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, Edward Hilgendorf, South Bend, Ind., two daughters Mrs. Dorothy Cokens and Mrs Lyle (Mary) Hopkins, both of Sturgis; seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

A sister, Mrs. Louella Overbeck, preceded her in death in 1967.

Friends may call at the Fogelsong Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 2 PM Friday, with the Rev. William Limbert officiating, followed by burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
