Lawrence Metzger, corner of Main and Prospect streets, died at five this morning as the result of the stroke of paralysis he received last Sunday.
Deceased was born in Koenigheim, Baden, German, February 13, 1827. He came to this country in 1853, and settled in Dubuque, where he lived for six years; then he moved to this city, where he had since resided. He worked at his trade, that of a carpenter, until a year ago, when on account of his poor health he was obliged to retire. On the 17th of last March his wife died and he had been gradually failing until his nervous system gave way and he received the fatal stroke.
Eight children are left, Charles and Frank of Chicago; Edward, Henry, Lewis, Mrs. Fred Tiesse, Mrs. Henry Klare and Miss. Josephine, of this city.
Funeral from the house at two Friday afternoon; internment in St. Boniface cemetery.
