Lynn Roger Hebeler, 82, of San Antonio passed away the morning of May 31, 2017 at his place of residence.
The funeral visitation and service for Lynn Hebeler will take place at 2 PM on Friday June 9, 2017 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Tributes of sympathy can be left at missionparks.com/obituaries/.
Lynn was born on December 10, 1935 in Clinton County, Iowa to Henry and Velma (Betle) Hebeler. He married Linda Lu DeBoy on August 24, 1955. He was a 1953 graduate of Clinton High School and attended language school at Indiana University.
Lynn joined the United States Air Force in 1954 and worked as a personnel specialist, linguist, and an analyst. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal three times and the Meritorious Service Medal. Lynn retired from the Air Force in 1977 as a Senior Master Sergeant. Lynn joined the civil service and worked as a network administrator until he retired from that position.
Lynn was a talented all-around athlete, participating in swimming, volleyball, baseball, football, basketball, and track. In high school, he participated in the student government, theater, and social programs, while teaching many young Clintonians to swim during the summers.
Lynn was highly intelligent and was always seeking to learn more. In addition, he had a vast amount of patience and used that to become a teacher and mentor to many people. Imparting knowledge or skills to others made him particularly happy.
Lynn is survived by his wife Linda of 61 years of San Antonio; daughter Clevetta Herndon of Holt, FL; son Steve Hebeler of Salt Lake City, UT; grandson John (Starla) Hebeler and great-grandson Bricen of Roanoke, TX; brother Russell (Nancy) Hebeler.
