Gerald C. Steeg, 68, of Fulton, Illinois, passed away, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Big Meadows Nursing Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Following the services the body will be cremated. Gerald Clark Steeg was born on March 29, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Milton and Violet (Merrill) Steeg. He was a1967 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Elsie Hesse on August 8, 1970 in Clinton.
Gerald worked for International Paper for 36 years as a maintenance mechanic.
Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Izzak Walton League.
Gerald is survived by his wife: Elsie of Fulton; his son: Milton (Stacy) Steeg of St. Clair, Michigan, his daughter: Renee (Gilbert Stralow) Steeg of Morrison, Illinois; four grandchildren: Nicholas Christoffersen, Taylor Christoffersen, Austen Steeg, and Keegan Birt; his brother: David Steeg of Clinton; and his sister: Maureen (Randy) Annear of Clinton.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Marcus, and two sisters: Sara and Dawn.
