The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, January 25, 1889

On Sunday morning Thomas Aller, after rounding out a period of 85 years of life, gave up his spirit to Him who gave it. Years ago there was no familiar form seen on the streets of this city than Thomas Aller. Tough for years he had retired from active work, though he could not resist the temptation to come to Clinton and chat with old acquaintances. He had lived on the old farm near Clancy since 1852, and always happy and contented seemingly, yet for many years been in feeble health. Mr. Aller was married in 1837 to Mrs. Polly Lillie, who at the time of their marriage had two children, Marquis and Rollin. By his marriage with Mrs. Lillie four children were added to his family - Mrs. Olivia Adams, Corin Aller, Mrs. Lura Hall and Judson Aller.

The funeral took place from the family residence on Tuesday forenoon, services conducted by the Rev. S. C. Bronson of the Methodist Church, and burial in Springdale Cemetery.
