Irene Joan Pieczynski, 92, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 12. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 17, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

Irene was born March 13, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Balak) Cider. She was united in marriage to Waclow Pieczynski on May 11, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois.

Irene was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and later Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Irene was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was a very active member in Democratic Party in the Clinton area. Irene was also very proud and active supporter of her husband, Waclow - who dedicated 26 years of service on the Clinton City Council and the Clinton Community.

Irene, enjoyed art and crafts, she loved knitting and crocheting - making doily's, stocking caps and quilts. She loved her Polish heritage and translated Polish to English for her friends and continued keeping up with family and friends in Poland. Above all she loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.

Irene is survived by her four children - John (Jan) Pieczynski of Huntsville, AL, James (Sharon) Pieczynski of Goose Lake, IA, Jeanne (Kent) Karsjens of Bondurant, IA, Joseph (Michelle) Pieczynski of Urbandale, IA; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister - Helen Grosskopf of Wausau, WI; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends - and special recognition to granddaughter Stacy, her family and friends.

Preceding Irene in death were her parents, her husband Waclow, two sisters and one brother.
