John P. "Jack" Soesbe age 88 of Clinton, passed away Friday February 3, 2017 at The Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton. A Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday February 7th at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 - 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be grandchildren; Colin, Casey, Libby, Erin, Abby Soesbe, and Charlie O'Connor. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com

Jack was born on September 17, 1928 in Manchester, IA, the son of Philip and Barbara (Siegel) Soesbe. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1947 and the Iowa Barber College in Des Moines. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Jack married Mary Theresa Lahey on July 16, 1955 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. Jack owned and operated Jack's Barber Shop for nearly 50 years, retiring in 2004. He had also worked at former Clinton Corn Processing Company and Clinton Electric Motors.

Jack was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Knights of Columbus, Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Elks Club. He centered his life around his family, and he had a special bond with his granddaughter, Libby. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and gardening and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Soesbe of Clinton; nine children, Rita (Randy) Baugh of Bettendorf, Julie (David) Coon of Madison, WI, Daniel (Patti) Soesbe of Des Plaines, IL, Jackie Soesbe and Paula Soesbe both of Chicago, IL, Douglas (Michelle) Soesbe of St. Charles, IL, Patrick Soesbe of Clinton, Greg (Cynthia) Soesbe of Thompson Station, TN, and Chrissy (Kevin) O'Connor of Aurora, IL; 15 grandchildren, Craig (Kirsta), David (Tami), Adam (Nichole), Rebecca (Jimmy), Krista, Casey, Colin, Abby, Libby, Erin, Jeffrey, Charlie, Lahey, Caitlyn, and Brady; 5 great grandchildren, Natalee, Tommy, Giana, Mara, and Stella; and a brother, William Soesbe of Clinton.
