Not only does the grim reaper take those ripe for the harvest, but enters our homes, and takes the tender flowers therefrom, takes the childish prattler and ambitious youth.

Laura M. Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Davis, was called to the other side, Monday evening, after a brief illness. Miss Laura was taken with typhoid fever last week, and, though the disease appeared in a very malignant form, it was believed she would conquer it, and get well; but the hopes were groundless, for, on the sixth day of her illness, she passed quietly and peacefully to rest. Deceased was one of Clinton’s most loved and cherished young ladies, distinguished alike for her genial and pleasant ways, and her efforts for the happiness of others. She was an arduous worker in the Sunday School, and always willing to persist in promoting the welfare of anything connected therewith. She early embraced Christianity, and lived up to the faith in her every walk of life. At the time of her death she was just 16 years of age. Her life, though short, has been one of happiness to all around her, and she will be sadly missed, not only at the fireside at home, but in the social circle, the Sunday School and every place which has been brightened by her presence. The community at large extends sympathy to the deeply bereaved family.
