Harold E. Collister passed away on Tuesday morning, February 16, 2016, at his home in Maquoketa.

Harold Edward Collister was born on August 19, 1930 in Delmar, Iowa, to Edward Theodore and Bernice Irene (Frosch) Collister. He attended Delmar Schools and then helped his dad on the farm prior to entering the military.

He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned home and met his future wife, Sandra Joy Evans.

They were married on July 4, 1959 in Maquoketa, Iowa, and to this union three children were born: Lori Anne, Louise Ellen and Charles Edward.

Harold had a long career in the manufacturing industry, first working on the assembly line at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa from 1956 to 1965, and then as a press operator with French & Hecht in Davenport from 1965 until retiring in 1993.

Harold was a collector of many items and enjoyed woodworking, macramé, fishing, mushroom hunting, and fixing and repairing almost anything.

Those left to honor Harold's memory include his wife, Sandra Collister of Maquoketa, IA; children, Lori Anne Schmidt of Maquoketa, IA, Louise Ellen (Bob) Orlosky of Maquoketa, IA, Charles Edward "Chuck" (Jennifer) Collister of Maquoketa, IA; 7 grandchildren, Josh (Brooke) Collister, Wesley Collister, Abby (Ryan) Oftedahl, Cassie (Riley) Seaman, Zachary Collister, Ashley (A.J.) Schmidt and Evan (Eleni) Collister; and 5 great-grandchildren, Addy, Emma, Audrina and Sadie Seaman, and Emma Oftedahl.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jerry Lee Collister, sisters Evelyn Lange and Gladys Carr, and a great-grandchild.

A celebration of Harold's life will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, February 20, 2016 from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Friday, February 19, 2016 from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa.A
