Phyllis Cain age 87, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center North. In following Phyllis's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Pape Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 P.M. Following the service a celebration of Phyllis's life will continue at Rastrelli's. Burial will be at a later date in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.

Phyllis was born in Clinton on October 31, 1929, the daughter of Peter and Julia (Schneider) Schoel. She graduated from Lyons High School and attended nurses' training school in Davenport. Phyllis married Michael Joseph Cain on June 4, 1949 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. Joe passed away on June 2, 1979. Phyllis had worked at Beez-Mousel's and later at the Mississippi Belle. She was a longtime Girl Scout leader and with her husband, enjoyed camping and boating on the River. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, and macramé.

Phyllis is survived by four children; Julie Cain Hill of Kodiak, AK, Mike (Sue) Cain, Dave (Susan) Cain and Gail (Joseph G.) Hlubek all of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Tegan (Ken) Callahan, Noah Hill, Michael Peter Cain, Chad (Elysia) Cain, Stephanie Cain, Casey (Holly) Hlubek and Jessica Hlubek; eight great-grandchildren; her brother, David (Carol) Schoel and several nieces and nephews.
