DOROTHY KATHERINE TEGELER, 96, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Resthave Home, Morrison, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL, with Rev. Gerald H. Norman officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Monday, December 12th at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Fenton Cemetery - Fenton, IL.
Dorothy was born November 6, 1920 in Fulton, IL, to Claus and Winnie (Londo) Norman. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. She married Clarence "Bush" Tegeler on August 1, 1940, in Erie, IL. He died June 4, 2001. After raising three children, Dorothy was employed at the Erie Dry Goods Store in Erie, IL and the Erie High School Cafeteria. She also worked for Singer Company in Clinton, IA. Most recently she worked as a teller for the former Smith Trust and Savings Bank in Morrison until retiring in 1986. Dorothy was a former member of the Newton Zion Reformed Church in Erie where she was a member and past president of the church's Ladies Aid Society and served as a Sunday School teacher, Junior Christian Endeavor sponsor, and was a choir member. She was a current member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the church's Ladies Aid Society and served as church librarian. Dorothy was an active guide in Stonecroft Ministries in Erie, Fenton, and Morrison for 30 years. She also volunteered in the Morrison Community Hospital Gift Shop and took an active part in the Resthave Home Bible studies and other activities. Dorothy enjoyed doing various kinds of needlework which she entered for judging at the Whiteside County Fair. She enjoyed bowling, baseball, and attending her great grandsons' ball games. Dorothy was known as an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed playing cards and dominos with her lady friends from Morrison. She met once a month with other retired Smith Trust and Savings Bank ladies for lunch. A memorial to Resthave Nursing Home has been established.
Survivors include one daughter, Beth (Lynn) Noack of San Antonio, TX; two sons, Arlyn (Shirley) Tegeler of Morrison, IL and Richard (Susan) Tegeler of Fenton, IL; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Carol) Tegeler, Victoria (Jeremy) Brandow, Elizabeth (Todd) Tegeler-Breitzke, Sonya (Kary) Keller, and Shelby (Jeff) Schimmel, Craig (Carolyn) Noack, Brandon (Sarah) Noack, Kim (David) Mabey, and Jay Horn; thirteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alberta Vegter of Morrison, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; four sisters, Grace Zuidema, Corabelle Tegeler, and twin sisters in infancy; and one brother, Elvin Norman.
