Emmaline “Emma” E. Simpson, 88 of Camanche passed away peacefully Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home – Fulton.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in the Rosehill Cemetery - Camanche.

Emmaline Edith Williams was born July 3rd 1928, the daughter of Bert and Lillian (Akes) Williams. She grew up in the midst of the great depression. As a child, she often had no shoes, but she did find a mismatched pair of roller skates, and would skate while whistling through her hometown in Decatur County Iowa. Like many of that era, she joined the workforce by middle school; she became an expert in sewing, cooking, and cleaning. These skill were not just for show they were often her livelihood, she worked many jobs from garment works to a chicken factory and later in life as a housekeeper in Clinton Iowa. Her skills were ready for domestic use by age 17 when she married Loren Simpson on August 12, 1946; he preceded her in death on July 7, 2010.

Emma was an avid reader and a vivid storyteller, her story about the life of a squirrel will be remembered by many. She was a long time member of the Camanche community, she was once honored as their Queen for the annual fair. She will be remembered for being a loving mother, a fine hostess and a stylish lady.

She taught Sunday school for 26 years at the Clinton Church of Christ where she was a member for 43 years. More recently she worshiped with family at River Church.

Emma will be mourned and missed by her friends and family, she is survived by her six children: Linda (Bernie) Klinedinst of Three Oaks, Michigan, Robert (Kathy) Simpson of Morrison, Illinois, Donna (Mark) Potter of Preston, Iowa, Lori (Jerry) Gravert of Camanche, Iowa, David (Keri) Simpson of Dallas, Texas and Sandra (Paul) Roy of Eldridge, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister Connie Warren and many other relatives and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother Jim Williams and his wife Pat, a half-brother and two half-sisters.

Memorial may be made the Harbor Crest Home – Fulton.
