Valley Park, MO - Jack A. Reed, 90, of Valley Park, Missouri formerly of Clinton, died Friday, November 4, 2016 at his home in Valley Park, Missouri.

Visitation will be held in the Narthex at First United Presbyterian Church, Clinton, IA, on Saturday, November 19 from 11 to 12:30pm followed by a memorial service in the sanctuary at 12:30pm. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born August 28, 1926 in Clinton, Iowa to Clarence K. and Luella C. Reed, he grew up in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School, class of 1945. As a student, he was active in football, basketball and track and was on the 1944 first ever undefeated CHS football team coached by Max Lynn.

Jack served in the Navy Air Force from 1944 to1946 attending radio and gunnery school and earning the rank of Seaman First Class before being discharged. He worked as a shift supervisor at DuPont, retiring in 1985 after 38 years of service.

He married Beatrice E. Eastman September 9, 1950 at the Lyons Community Church.

A member of the 700 Club, he enjoyed bowling for many years. As a member of the YMCA, he was a dedicated lap swimmer until the Y closed. Jack was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, where he served as deacon. He enjoyed yard work, swimming, playing cards and games with friends and grandchildren and was a member of the Izaak Walton League.

He was a lifetime fan of the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals, attending a Cardinals game whenever he could.

Survivors include wife Beatrice, Valley Park, MO; daughter Bonnie (Tom) Hoerner, granddaughter Kelly Hoerner, grandson Thomas “Reed” Hoerner, all of Manchester, MO; sisters Nadine (Russell) Pollard, Clinton, IA; Mary (Ron) Bro, Cedar Falls, IA; sister-in-law Sue Eastman, Clinton, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister Velda (Sam) Ezell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the First United Presbyterian Church of Clinton.
