Dearly loved Mary K. Blinkinsop, 81, years old, passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Alverno, Clinton.
She was born November 6, 1934 in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lula (Parrott) Gehl. Mary was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School. She proudly sent her children to the same private Catholic School. Mary married Dale Blinkinsop on April 8, 1967 in Maquoketa, Iowa; he passed away July 16, 2011. Married for more than 44 years, they were blessed with three children and grandchildren that brought joy to their lives and kept them young at heart. Mary worked as a Nurses Aid for more than 40 years, at Mercy Hospital, touching the lives of numerous patients and their families.
Mary was very humble and selfless doing more for others than for herself. She possessed a true servant’s heart. Mary’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She and Dale took their children on several vacations from which they have many amusing stories of childhood trips with their parents and the Arch Yaddof family. In later years, Mary loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren blossom into exceptional young adults.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her Parents and brothers, Jack and Bob Gehl.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Lynn (Keith Sander) Clark of Clinton; Daniel (Cindy) Blinkinsop of Long Grove, Iowa and Steve (Melissa Foster) Blinkinsop of Clinton; grandchildren, Kelly Mae Clark, Dean Stephen Blinkinsop, Aubry and Evan Sander, Alex Foster and Brittany Berwanger; brother, Donald (Arlene) Gehl of Cascade, Iowa; sister, Dorothy (Tom) Ryan of Clinton and many nieces and nephews.
Help the family celebrate Mary’s journey here on earth. Services will be Monday, October 24, 2016 at 12:00PM (Noon) at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Visitation is from 10AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be sons, Dan Blinkinsop and Steve Blinkinsop and Kevin Gehl, Eric Ryan, Keith Sander and Bob Woodard.
