James Thomas Pitts, 91, of Clinton, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Alverno, Clinton. Services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 9:30AM until the service time Saturday at the church and from 4 to 7PM Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, where full Military honors will be conducted.

James was born July 4, 1925 in Conway, Missouri, the son of Hugh and Bertha (Gaunt) Pitts. He married Lily Berner on November 30, 1952 in Grand Mound, Iowa.

James had been employed as welder and welding supervisor for 15 years and was employed as the security supervisor at International Paper for 13 years, retiring in 1995. He had also been employed as a farm hand in Goose Lake for eight years.

He was honorably discharged from the US Army as a Corporal, serving from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War.

James was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was very active and served in many offices. He enjoyed gardening, farming, reading and traveling. He enjoyed sports and was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Lily of Clinton; daughters, Linda (Scott) Nothdorf of Clinton and Diane Marie (Eduard) Henricksen of Ashland, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew (Lyndsey) Henricksen and Brian (Erin) Henricksen; step-grandchildren, Zachary (Melissa) Nothdorf and Levi Nothdorf; great-grandchildren, Ella, Charlie and Nash Henricksen; Step great-grandson, Cayden Nothdorf; and sister, June Turner of Buffalo, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arvin, Howard, Herman and Willard Pitts and sister, Roberta Knox.
