Marjorie M. Nixon-Stevens, 88, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 after a long 10 year battle with dementia. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 am, Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery – Clinton. Serving as pallbearers will be Max Dauphin, Kevin Phillips, Jason Long, Tonya Long, Corbin Petersen and Tyler Hansen. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Ludewig, Donna Hartsen, Diana Petersen and Curtis Munck. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Marjorie Mae Primes was born April 22, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Gus and Ethel (Crofoot) Primes. She married Raymond E. Nixon on May 11, 1946; he passed away on October 12, 1978. She later married Elmer Stevens on April 17, 1981; he preceded her in death on May 23, 1983.
Marjorie worked for Bennet Box Company, Bickers TV, and the Palmer House over the years. She especially loved her job as a Bus Monitor on the handicap bus for the Clinton Community Schools, and enjoyed working with the kids. She enjoyed sewing, contesting through the mail, crafting, cooking and listening to country music.
She is survived by her two sons: Christopher Nixon of Clinton and Andrew (Eleanor) Nixon of Clinton; one sister: Betty Brock of Veedersburg, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, four sisters and three brothers.
