Patrick R. “Pat” Black age 81 of Clinton, passed away Sunday Oct. 16, 2016 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held Wednesday 5 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home and Thursday 10:00 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com Pat was born on Aug. 16, 1935 in Clinton, the son of Samuel and Helen (Kerns) Black. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1953. He served in the US Army. Pat married Lois Jones on May 8, 1955 in Clinton. He worked for E.I. DuPont, Hawkeye, and Chemplex. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, softball, playing cards, fishing/hunting, but mostly the time he spent with his family and at the church. Pat is survived by his wife, Lois Black of Clinton; three children, Lisa (Ray) Bormann of Preston, Steven (Angie) Black of Fulton, IL, and Kristi (James) LaShelle of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Cori, Susan, Blake, Amber, Justin, Bradley, and Patrick; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
