Marian Mabel Byers, 100, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Alverno on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery.
Marian was born June 27, 1916 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mabel (Claussen) Obermiller. Marian was united in marriage to Harold Still on August 26, 1935 in Clinton, Iowa - Harold passed away on March 15, 1942. She later married Jack R. Byers on July 19, 1944 in Clinton - he passed away on December 31, 1988.
Marian was a member of the Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eagles Club and the Moose Club in Clinton. Marian started her career working at Rich's Toy Factory. She then worked at Clinton Corn Processing Company in the sewing room, the Variety Store on Main Avenue and finally retiring from the Clinton Garment Company.
Marian enjoyed gardening and generally working in her yard. Later in life she enjoyed quilting and sewing.
Marian is survived by two daughters - Sandy (Dennis) Carstensen of Clinton, IA, Jaclyn Ruthart of Clinton, IA; three sons - Gary (Judy) Still of Spenser, IN, Robert (Sandy) Byers of Clinton, IA and Richard (Robyn) Byers of Clinton, IA; with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren; one daughter in-law - Janice Still of Fulton, IL; one sister Shirley (Jack) Wolfstader of Rock Falls, Il and one brother in-law - Dean Robinson of Thomson, Il.
Preceding Marian in death were her parents, her first husband - Harold Still, her second husband - Jack Byers, one daughter - Carol Byers; one son - Wayne Still; two sisters and one brother.
Memorials made can be directed to the wishes of the family.
