Steven Michael Parker, 46, of Clinton, Iowa (formerly of Bellevue, NE) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur from 10:00 a.m. until time of the memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be private.
Steven was born January 6, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Michael and Kathleen (Weiler) Parker. He was a graduate of Bellevue High School and attended the University of Nebraska.
While in Nebraska he worked for several Five Star restaurants. He owned and operated "Steven's Books and Coffee" on Main Avenue in Clinton, he also managed the "Ice Cream Shop" on Main Avenue and later worked as the curator and instructor for the "River Arts Center" in Clinton.
Steven was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Clinton. He was very proud of his Czech heritage and loved returning home for the Wilber, Nebraska annual Czech festival. He was also a member of the Cedar Rapids National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library. Steven was a long-time and very involved member of the Clinton AA - and very proud of his five year sobriety.
Steven enjoyed playing scrabble and framing pictures. He loved collecting art and restoring old paintings, as well as furniture. He loved to bake cakes and enjoyed the company of people. He loved his family and friends very much and will be sadly missed.
Steven is survived by his mother Kathleen Parker of Bellevue, NE; one brother - Phillip Parker of Bellevue, NE; one aunt - Phyllis Valentine of Bellevue, NE; his special friends Jeff Brooks of Clinton, IA, Dorthe Flick of Clinton, IA; with many special cousins and friends from the Bellevue, Nebraska area.
Preceding Steven in death were his grandparents, his father.
