The Clinton Herald Wednesday January 31, 1990 p. 14 The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, DeWitt, for Gladys G. Grobbon, 85, formerly of DeWitt, who died Tuesday in Clinton Retirement Village. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Schultz-McGinnis funeral Home, DeWitt, where a 7 p.m. rosary will be recited. Burial will be in Allen's Grove Cemetery, Donahue, Iowa. Pallbearers will be John, Edward and Paul McDonnell, Doug and John Hesse and Tim Hunter. Mrs. Gribbon was born Feb. 19, 1904, in Donahue, to George and LaVinnie Winey Holcomb. She married Hohn Hesse, June 23, 1926, in Davenport. He died in 1938. She later married William Gribbon, Oct. 27, 1945, in Davenport. He died in 1968. She had taught school in Scott and Clinton counties for 25 years retiring from Central Community School System, DeWitt, in 1970. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the church altar and rosary society. St. Joseph's Guild and St. Francis Guild. She was a member of DeWitt American Legion Auxiliary and Retired Teachers Organization. Survivors include a son, Donald Hesse of DeWitt; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
