The Clinton Herald Monday August 26, 1968 p.10 William P. Gribbon, 65, a lifelong resident of the DeWitt area, died Saturday at Mercy hospital, Davenport, where he had been a patient for the last week. He had been in poor health for a number of years. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic church with Rev. Francis P. Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Allen's Grove cemetery near Dixon, Iowa. Visitation at the Hanrahan funeral home will be held this afternoon. The rosary will be recited there at 8 p.m. today. Mr. Gribbon was born July 22, 1903 in DeWitt, the son of the late William H. and Alice Redmond Gribbon. He married Gladys Hesse, Oct. 27, 1945, in Davenport. Mr. Gribbon was formerly employed at the Rock Island Arsenal and had also farmed in this area. He was a member of Eugene McManus post, American Legion. Surviving are his wife, one stepson, Donald Hesse, DeWitt; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Wolfe of Lost Nation, Miss Lucille Gribbon of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Mrs. Mary McDonnell, DeWitt.
